Nilesh Bothare and I were classmates in a government photography course at Ferguson College Pune. That was in 1991. We used to go to college on bicycles, we used to do new experiments in the subjects like Indian culture, fashion, painting, sculpture, technology, photography. Although we were friends during the course, we were actually competitors in the course. We both used to fight for the first place in the class till the end. At the end of the year, both of us got the “Best Student Award” for this course …. and our best friendship started.Nilesh is the founding director of the Prasad Pawar Foundation. He has always been active in the preservation of this Indian culture, realizing its uniqueness in the work of photography research and conservation.
